Video: Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott nets latest impressive Blackburn goal

By Conor Laird

Reds prodigy

17-year-old Elliott has of course long been viewed as one of English football’s standout talents.

The 2018/19 campaign, for example, saw the wide-man become the youngest player to ever feature in the Premier League.

On the back of his move to Liverpool last summer, however, Elliott unsurprisingly struggled for senior game-time, amid a battle for minutes with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

As such, it came as little surprise to see the prodigious teen farmed out on loan back in October, to get his development back on track.

Elliott made the move to the Championship, with Blackburn Rovers.

And to say that the wide-man has since gone on to impress would be putting it lightly.

Despite his tender years, Elliott has not looked at all out of place amongst the talent in England’s 2nd-tier, with recent weeks having seen the Liverpool loanee go on to establish himself as a key cog in Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn side.

He has started and completed 90 minutes in all of Rovers’ last 4 Championship outings, directly contributing to 8 goals in his 14 total appearances.

Rotherham strike

Elliott’s latest starring display, meanwhile, came on Wednesday.

Blackburn welcomed Rotherham to Ewood Park, for a league clash.

It was actually the visitors who took the lead in proceedings, when, just past the hour mark, Michael Smith found the net to hand the Millers the advantage.

A spirited comeback, however, eventually saw Adam Armstrong bag a 98th-minute winner, continuing his scintillating spell of form in front of goal in the process.

Rovers’ opportunity to secure all 3 points, though, of course only came after the aforementioned Elliott pulled the hosts level.

Armstrong was again central, taking the ball down on his chest, before sliding a perfectly timed through ball into Elliott’s path.

And the Liverpool loanee went on to do the rest, taking the ball in his stride, steadying himself, before picking out the far corner of the Rotherham net in style.

Footage of Elliott showcasing his immense talent for the umpteenth time this season can be seen below:
